the planes with "747-All Series"-designation are newer than those with "747-400"-designation.
even if the seats are still cradle-type seats in the non-converted 747 All Series.
747-400 are 7443,
747-All Series (cradle/recliner) are 7442.
I assume there ever was a 7441 type, with seating similar to those on the (retired) 747-300 they were still flying in the last years.
those early 747-400 already got retrofitted to 7443, thus actually the cradle/recliner-seat 7442 aircraft are newer than those 7443 with the BAe angled lie-flat seats. some of those early 747-400 already retired, as well.
the conversion of the 7442 runs far behind schedule: you are right.
but still: TG would want to avoid using the TG7442 planes on FRA sector as they understand FRA as one of their most important markets.
