Re: FRA-BKK TG923 - need urgent expert seat advice!
Dear Tartegnin
FRA-BKK routing, C-Class seat types
not sure where you got notice that TG923 is a 744.
TG920/TG921 is currently 744, and changes to 388 from 16DEC onwards.
TG922/TG923 is currently 773 (the planes from JET airways) and that does not change till end of the year.
773 is flat-bed type of seat, herring bone configuration, however not really nice for family travel in my opinion. very nice seats though. if you are on TG923/922, you will get those seats.
744 is either the EADS seat in the "747 All Series"; or its the BAe seat in the 747-400. they are both angled lie-flat type, more or less the same. i think those are nicer for family travel.
there seem to be some "747 All Series" with cradle/recliner seats left flying, however TG tries to make sure that they wont be used on FRA sector. very unlikely the TG lottery will hit you on FRA with cradle/recliner seats.
soon those planes will finally be retrofitted with the EADS seats as well.
the 747 All Series airplane frames are actually newer than the 747-400.
no more 744 to/from FRA from 16DEC onwards.
from that day, they will only fly 388 and 773.
depending on the age of your children (in case you travel with children) there is a ban on TG 773 (Jet planes) for children younger than a certain age, my apologies i forgot the age-limit. this is due to airbags in their seat belts. you should check on this with TG or your travel agent.
for your comparison: LH uses on FRA-BKK currently 744, and later on 346, both with angled lie-flat seats in C.
