Small update, through a Twitter DM with a Hertz rep. Apparently the Hertz rental location is now speaking with the local Chevy dealership.

So no official response yet, but it looks like I pay more attention to the cars they pay for than they do.

I was saying over on the Camaro 5 forum, wouldn't Hertz check the VIN on the car before they finalize payment on it?
