DXB is, in fact, a 'meh' city.
EK's selling points are high frequency and access to second tier cities = low connection times and less connections.
On board, it depends on who you're comparing them to. EK is amking its bread and butter off Y. They easily trump the likes of AC, LH, BA etc in the three or four most tangible experiences for pax - IFE (ICE is an industry leader), catering ( AC and LH are renowned for 'kiddie' meals in Y) etc. Its only the 777 seats where they take criticism. But even there their seat pitch is more than LH's miserable 31".
I m not particularly keen on them ( done one trip with them in 2005) but I appreciate the changes they've forced in passenger experience, like PTVs in Y. LH thought PTVs were a terrible idea and even pledged not to put them in Y. That's changed quite dramatically, eh?
