I recently travelled CE with a relative newcomer to the world of premium cabins and frequent flyer perks. While she has had some experience at the front most trips have been in steerage or – even worse – on an LCC. A CE trip taking in Galleries First and the FCO lounge got some interesting comments
First check in. “Stupid, why do we have to walk all the way up here from the HEX when there are loads of other check in desks” N.B she wasn’t referring to me as stupid and I don’t normally use it, was just showing off. ;-)
Fastrack. “Nice,much faster”
Accessing GF “Why are we walking away from the lounges when they are just next door. Strange design”
GF “Like the free champagne though the buffet and menu selections were boring, bit tasteless and unimaginative for a vegetarian. Washrooms are odd and it all feels a bit too male. It’s quite boring in here too, just a waiting room with comft chairs. Can we go for a walk”
Priority boarding “I like this”
Club Europe seating. “Is that it? A bit rubbish”
Afternoon tea “I’d far rather have a salad than that carbo loaded crap”
FCO Lounge “Boring and corporate. I’d rather sit in a coffee shop and people watch”
Vegan Dinner on board “Pathetic. Vegetables with gloop isn’t dinner” Comments about vegetarian food generally were bitten back by moi.
CE wine “Winebox stuff, not premium at all”
Overall verdict “Like the stuff you get for free with your gold card. No way would I ever pay more than £25 max for it otherwise. Can we go to Plane Food next time please?”
And you know what? I can see her point(s).
