It's basically a matter of interpretation, as in does the membership ends at 00:01 on the date quoted, or at 23:59 on the same date. If the former, I've got a case. If the latter, I don't.

AIUI, the LHR-JFK flight on 8 September 2012 should have counted in the membership year beginning 9 September 2011 and ending 8 September 2012. So that flight was properly removed from your running TP count for the current membership year beginning 9 September 2012.

It's done by the scheduled date of departure of the flight. There is nothing more sophisticated than that.
