I recently received the Citi AA Visa and Amex cards and will want to get award tickets as soon as I receive the bonus miles. Different banks seem to post miles and bonuses in different ways, and my question is about Citi's timing.

For example, my SPG card posts my earned miles when my statement closes, but IIRC I received my bonus miles when I hit the spend threshold, not related to the statement date. (However, I noticed that the miles from my first purchase on the Citi Visa card have already posted to my AA account, even though my statement doesn't close until the 22nd.)

If I hit the Citi spend threshold mid-statement cycle, will the bonus miles post at that time, or not until the next statement closing date?

Is the answer the same for both the Citi Amex and the Visa?
