You don't necessarily need to go to a transfer desk. There are plenty of transfer kiosks around airside, where you can check in or print a boarding pass
if you already did OLCI. I suppose checking in there will only work as long as the flight isn't closed yet. Worked fine for me when I had two trips back-to-back arriving on LH from FRA, departing on KL to MAN.

You know you're flying too much if you're doing a transfer at your home airport
