I have particular interest in Geneva, Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Lucerne and Ski Hotels throughout the country. Of course, any secret gems not covered there, and soon to open / proposed hotels are always welcome.
In Geneva for a more intimate experience I would rather choose Hotel Angleterre.
An absolute must in Lausanne is the Beau Rivage Palace with its 2 Michelin star (soon being 3) Anne Sophie Pic restaurant. The best overall property in Switzerland south facing the lake.
In Zurich forget about the 5 star properties, bad value for money and try the lakefront Steigenberger Bellerive for a Bauhaus experience or for a gourmet stay the small Florhof boutique hotel. I consider both still luxury because of their character.
For posh luxury skiing try Riffelalp Resort above Zermatt - an impressive location or for a gourmet stay the small Waldhotel Fletschhorn in Saas Fee - a little bit hidden in the forest, but a Michelin starred Relais & Châteaux.
Best location in the middle of Switzerland and to avoid the horrible places in Interlaken: Grandhotel Giessbach - mind the waterfall - a unique gem of peace and beauty.
Enjoy Switzerland if you can affordt it

. I can not anymore
