Well, US appears confident enough about the DineFresh product to refund your money later if you don't like the meal. From the FAQs,
Q. What if I don't like the meal I requested?
A. You'll need to request a refund through DineFresh. No refunds are available on board.
As yet, there's no similar offer to refund your ticket price if you don't like your US flights
