So I went ahead and booked us on the AC flight from YVR and purchased the premium exit row seats. Thanks for the advice.

One more thing, we will need to route through LAX on the way home (United 747-400) and we need to choose some seats. I have no problem paying for the E+ seats if they are worth it (I am 6'5). Which seats would you choose and where? We are curently booked in 59HJ. These are just 2 seats in the back of the plane instead of the normal 3.
