Thanks for the replies, most useful. I think we will arrive on the EI163 at 1540 and leave on the BA839 at 1845. That way we could still catch the next EI flight if they cancel it and still have 55mins to connect to the BA839. Not such a quick tunraround as the title suggests but building in some spare capacity.
Looked at the ex ams/italy, the DUB is the same price as LIN and is closer to LHR with a few more options if it starts to fall apart. Did an ex-LIN on another occasion a few years ago and I seem to remember there was quite a queue at Passport control and security coming back through was busy, we broke the journey back then with an overnighter, but this time we are going to get the first bit done and crash overnight at LHR before carrying on the following morning.
Not really about the miles/points just a cheap J ticket.
