Being booked into a shadow Y for priority, yet mileage and perk accrual based on fare bought has been implemented since more than two years. However, many agents use incompliant means to process the change. With the exception of rebookings on other carriers done manually, I have always been rebooked into that shadow Y without having had the perks (or miles) attached to this fare class.
This disconnect between fare flown/paid caused a boat load of trouble, not only on DL but also with partners. I have been shouted at, accused of theft, and worse by AF. I have been kicked of an upgrade list (as a DM!) by poorly trained DL GA's because "the system shows me in a fare I did not qualify for".
All in all, I would actually appreciate this being consolidated and taken over by effective IT instead of relying on DL's trained monkey force. Unless you are highly flexible and want to play the system, I do not see how any good comes out of the current semi-automatic process with too many breaking points by human interaction. On the other hand, DL's IT team is not really known to provide best-in-class performance within the customer domain, so let's see in what disaster this streamlining attempt ends.
