Have you tried searching for the same route on dl.com (or travelocity, expedia, etc) in business to see if it's cheaper? It might be better to just cancel the ticket altogether and get a DL credit (minus $250 int'l change fee) and then book a ~$5k business ticket if it's available.
You get a 50% MQM bonus in business class, as well as a 50% bonus for redeemable miles. As a gold, you'd end up with 150% bonus when you factor in your 100% bonus on redeemable miles you already get. Make sure to read through this on MQM earnings:
