So, mid-way through dinner I get an email saying tomorrow's BA 16 SIN-LHR in cxl-ed. Oups. FWIW, I'm booked in "A" (proper A, not a one-way upgrade thing).
So, I drop everything, jump out of dinner and call BA and ask them to be put on either QF codeshare in F. They say both are available, they say I've got a seat on BA 7309 (aka QF 9) .. and off I go back to dinner. Panic over: Phew. Thank god I've had enough experience of flights cancelled (and read enough flyertalk) to know not to get mad at people and just try to find pragmatic, fast solutions while seats are still there.
An hour later, they call back saying that they didn't actually confirm an F seat for me on QF 9, and that now all QF and BA flights that day are full in F, and how would I like to fly in J? I say "Nope. Please endorse me to SQ in R/class" .. to which I'm told "no, we won't do that. How 'bout that downgrade?"
Seriously?! BA make the decision to cxl a flight: I bend over backwards to be a helpful pax by calling immediately and trying to be flexible, and proactive and the BA agent's lazyiness in confirming my seat in Amadeus means that I'm expected to take an involuntary downgrade without an option of an endorsement?
When did this become an OK way to deal with paid First passengers? (not that it makes a difference to whether there are seats or not, but I'm a GCH too)
Stupid me for booking BA in the first place.
