Shrieking 747 LHR-DME BA0233
Definitely do not seem to be having much luck only flights today. Flew "new" 1st on BA 0233 from LHR to DME. I was the only one in (Crew say the return is almost full and they expect with overbooking, some will be op-up'd and they will be full)
Boarded almost last on the plane, crew were very welcoming, all smiles and jokes. CSD came over had a chat, mentioned that it was recorded my last few flights were somewhat lacking and said, relax you will have a good flight today....
Flight took off and about 5000 feet up a whistling sound started to be heard. As the flight gained altitude, the whistling got louder and higher pitched. When we reached crushing altitude it was very very high pitched and loud. Using my Stenheisser noise cancelling headphones and an iPod made no difference it cut through. I pointed out to crew, who firstly were cringing at the noise and then brought CSD along, who was the same. Next thing we have the captain down and he thinks maybe the PA. they check the PA and no difference.
Nothing can be done as its stay there with headphones on and music trying to drown it out or move to Economy as Club is 100% full. So stayed and Mr Springsteen combined with Mr Stenheisser did their level best to make it bareable. Actually it wasn't that bad with phones n music on..
On the decent, I was there with CSD listening to the tone change as she commented over phone to captain. They think it was a faulty seal and were to have it looked at on the ground.
CSD very very apologetic about this, asked me to write to customer services and she would put a report in asking them to do something for me, particularly in view of the fact i have been nailed three times in four flights with downgrades or horrible noise..
Better check my schedule on ba97 and make sure you are not on any flights I am on.. Should I change my ID to Jonah-Behindthe curtain?
