Just wanted to chime in that the stairs at the stations would be a nightmare, especially if you have multiple luggages. When my friend and I were in Paris and London (both of us girls), we were glad to have backpacks because it could get very crowded at tube stations and the stairs were absolute madness with everyone rushing to catch their trains. Londoners are generally polite but you could see them giving the evil eye to people who stopped very suddenly before a flight of stairs to maneuver their bags up/down it.
On shoes, I'm not sure I even own 14 pairs of shoes! Okay, I do. But when I travel it's a maximum of 2 pairs (one of which I would be wearing on the plane).
On trains that go across borders, there might not be enough space for so many luggage bags because there are other commuters as well. There were a couple of times when a group of people get on the train too late and realise there is no more space for their luggage.
