I've stayed there a few times. The location is bad (the casino is across the street as is a shopping mall... the French Quarter is a short walk (several blocks). The hotel was refurbished recently. It's a clean hotel in a decent location. Nothing really wrong with it, however it isn't opulent like a lot of other hotels in New Orleans. If you want luxury check out the Roosevelt.
I think I paid around $90-$100 per night at the Double Tree (off peak times). The Roosevelt has a great Gov rate if you qualify, if not make sure to take advantage of the MVP rates (knocks 20% off the BAR rate).
