The foot rest hight is easy to adjust... Put it back to the upright position, squeeze the handle which is contained within the hand-hold, if you want to lower the footrest, gently pull the footrest up at the same time as squeezing the handle, then push down. And, vice versa for raising it, gently push it down before trying to pull it up.

As for the original question... I use the inflatable headrest as just the pillow is not enough for my neck, so I need it a little higher.
