I agree that if you have 11 months left on the cert, you may want to wait for a hotel stay where you normally have to pay a higher cash rate. However if the cert is about to expire soon, any amount saved is better than letting it expire unused. I recently used my certs instead of the $89 regular hotel rate, but the cert was about to expire soon, so I found it to be a good use of the cert.
