Very strange...Hertz gave me a "SS" V6 Camaro, whats going on???
Hello All,
As you can tell by my name I am a GM/Camaro fiend...
My wife and I are currently in HI on the last leg of a muti-leg honeymoon. We got in on an early flight from Fiji and got to the Hertz check in at HNL. Originally we were going to get a full size car and I asked if they had any Camaro SS V8 cars available, they did and gave me one. While driving to where we are staying I noticed something just didnt feel right...sure enough I look at the vin and open the hood and I find that the vin is related to a v6 engine, I only saw 6 spark plugs, and there is a 3.6 liter sticker on the underside of the hood to ID the engine parts. Not to mention the belt routing is that for a V6 and the engine cover is that for a V6.
Long story short the car has SS badges, and on my receipt I paid for a "SS" vert Camaro.
All versions of the SS should have a V8. What happened here? I called into the desk at Hertz in HNL and they have it listed as a V6. I don't understand how it could be labeled and rented as an SS. The Hertz website even says all their SS cars, hardtop and convertible are a V8 car. I got the price down to what we were origanlly going to pay for a full size but this just doesnt feel right for them to be renting this as an SS.
Anyone else ever run into this with a SS from Hertz?
