My husband uses one of the DOT capsules. (looks like a giant, yellow pill capsule) He's a cigar smoker, so he drains his windproof cigar lighter and transports it in his checked luggage. He has never had a problem transporting his lighter this way. You have to have an empty lighter to put into these capsules.
I just started smoking cigars and I've been told by multiple people(including store owners) that the yellow capsules are useless and that it's better to just put the lighter in a travel humidor.
Does the TSA go through every bag that has cigars/lighters in it when it's checked luggage?
