What is best strategy for maximum mileage per $ spent.

I generally do several mileage runs to maintain 1K. I live in Pittsburgh and would like to maximize # miles per $ spent on airfare for these runs. At best, PIT to SEA seems the best ratio. Any suggestions? Multi leg and over night is fine. I would prefer to do everything over a weekend or leave Friday night after work and be back Sunday. International is ok but I notice that it generally costs more than domestic even after factoring the greater distances(probably because the planes burn so much fuel). Are there any tricks to getting best ratio other than plugging in different cities? Can a United agent pull stuff automatically, I haven't asked them to do so. I need 125K more to get to first million miles, wish I learned about this racket years ago, permanent GP would be nice but I don't spend enough to rate it. I get ALOT of work done on these forced flights. No interruptions. I am getting to old to do multiple runs back to back, last time I did 5 days, quite tiring but good for 25K actual miles which got me to 150K and the two extra GP upgrades I needed for next year.
