It all depends on the mood of the TSA clerks.
My recommendation is that if you're carrying a lot of supplements/pills, either bring them in their original containers or be able to easily recognize/describe them all (with or without documentation).

About 2 years ago I followed 3 WWF wrestling athletes through a GRB checkpoint. Aside from the comical scan/pat-down (one was heavily pierced everywhere); there was a bit deeper exploration of a bag that appeared to have a lot of supplements in baggies, etc and smaller vials of liquid (properly bagged up). I didn't stay long enough to see what the end results were; but it appeared an extended but reasonable conversation.

To those asking about Singapore; things ramp-up if you're going internationally when border patrol on either side can get involved if you're carrying anything perceived to be of a controlled substance.

Anything seen as excessive (i.e. "unlimited amounts") will have even deeper scrutiny as even body-building supplements are controlled differently in every country. Excessive amounts also may imply an intent to distribute and you're then in an even more dicey area.
