I just returned from a trip to HNL and OGG with my 5 and 8 year old. We traveled on the DL A333 in economy comfort (EC) ATL-HNL and had a great flight. We did have the free meal that was recently eliminated. The entertainment was great, plenty of movies, games and shows on an at-seat screen. I would consider ALB-ATL-HNL-OGG-HNL-ATL-ALB if you want a very comfortable long flight. Economy comfort is a major DL plus as it adds a lot of extra room and recline for 9+ hours. EC was $99 for a no-status passenger.

Another flight to consider would be ALB-EWR-HNL-OGG-HNL-EWR-ALB and add economy plus seating for more room. This would be on a 764 wide-bodied plane.

It seems very difficult to get a single connection flight to OGG from ALB. I would recommend finding aircraft with the most entertainment options and the options for additional room in Y class seats to make the journey as stress free as possible.
