A friend of mine that is AC Elite lives in the UK. Several weeks ago, he flew LH: LHR-FRA-JNB on a slightly discounted Y fare, accruing the points to Aeroplan. What has posted was only 50% of the total Q miles he flew. When he called to find out why, they said that had he left from Canada, he would receive full-Q, but he did not have a Transatlantic sector and therefore, would only get the half miles.

This was supposed to get him topped up to *E again for 2003, but he's somewhat short of 35K now. Needless to say, he's not pleased!

Has anyone heard of such a rule? Does he have any recourse?
