I discovered that it's very challenging, since it seems that you don't get closer to status by squeezing in extra miles and/or segments into one trip.

I would appreciate any ideas/methods A listers or anyone else has on doing a mileage run/segment with Southwest.

Thx in advance...
you only get one "segment" for an out and back regardless of the number of stopovers/segments that actually make up that one way trip. in other words, one "one way" journey counts the same if it is nonstop or 10 stops.

the cheapest way to get there is fly very cheap advance purchase/sale round trips (ie, the $39/OW variety) as often as you can when they come up. in theory if you did a good job of booking them you could fly several of these in one day with end on end ticketing or back and forth round trips (ie, SMF-LAS over and over in a given day). just make sure you book each RT on a different PNR.

i don't know how the "points" work, can't figure it out and don't care to as I don't fly WN much except for positioning for *A MRs.
