Today I am flying MCI/ORD/EWR on AA and then later tonight EWR/BOS flight on B6. The AA flight was unplanned and the B6 flight was originally due to the later departure than AA JFK/BOS. They may be asking for volunteers on the ORD/EWR flight. If I were to VDB, would AA be willing to route me direct to BOS instead of EWR. The B6 flight is a one way so there no worry about a return being canceled.
It won't hurt to ask, and they may be willing to do so, especially if they would be unable to get you to EWR in time for your flight to BOS. I was once with someone ticketed to fly on AA BWI-BOS. He planned to take a bus from Logan Airport to NH. The BWI-BOS flight was cancelled. At his request, AA rescheduled him to fly DCA-Manchester NH.
