At LAX there is a (well hidden) separate line for connecting pax. Basicaly you can see it only after standing in line for an hour.

I would recommend you to go to the front of the line, and ASK for help there. (After showing your bp for the next flight.)

Nevertheless, I would leave at least 3 hours between arrival time and departing time.
