Keep in mind that they are running a double preferred miles promotion right now for tickets bought with your M/C and flown by the end of the year. If you register for the promotion and then take those two coast to coast trip, that should be enough with your 10,000 preferred miles from the card to get you silver. No need to sign up for the trial.
