Ok, that's a good strategy because I would then have Silver status until mid-2014, for about $200. That's worth it. I'll probably do that if I see I'm booking two coast-to-coast trips this year, which I might be doing. Or I could do the $25k spend this year, which gets me 10k qualifying miles, and then spend $200 and I'm at silver. Basically I get Silver status for $200 with no flying? That's what you're suggesting?
