Over the past month or so, Ive noticed that all my confirmations indicate that 4 additional drivers are included in my reservations when using National's generic Emerald ID. Since I rent with friends a lot, I decided to give CS a call and find out exactly what this meant. According to the Emerald CS Rep I spoke to, National now allows up to 4 free additional drivers (any driver, friend, relative, etc.) for Emerald members as long as the additional driver meets National's rental requirements. Finally!

I don't know if status has anything to do with it (I'm EE), but the 4 additional driver perk has been showing up on all the reservations I make using the generic Emerald ID. So, if you see the same on your reservations and want to add a friend as an additional driver at the counter, make sure you don't pay for it!
