I thought I'd add to this guide that there's a PreCheck lane to the left of the regular security line (also for military) in the north pier.
There was an unusually long snaking security line on Sat afternoon and no priority at that checkpoint, but there was no one at all in the PreCheck lane. Downtown DC to the US Club in 20 minutes. Awesome. But don't ask me about the CRJ's...

I agree with all the points made:
Precheck is wonderful
The dirty, ripped upholstery, buses and the non smiling employees and the lack of proper signage for Gate 35 are an example of how not to run a gate!
