I flew EWR-TLV in Y on 07/15/12 I'm 5"10 and I found the legroom to be more than adequate, I also found the seat itself to be quite comfortable and plush compared to LX's Y seats which are rock hard. Catering (KSML) was also enjoyable and service from the CO crew was outstanding.
So I absolutely recommend it and if it fits your schedule go for UA-84 on the outbound which departs EWR at 3:55pm.
UA-90 departs EWR at 10:50pm.
