Amex Business Gold seems to be really shooting to sign up new cardholders. I already have an AMEX Platinum and have for years but they recently sent out an pre-approved offer for a personal Amex Gold. I did it because they waived the annual fee for the first year and offered a $500 gift card if you spent $1,000 within the first few months.

Then AMEX Business Gold card offer came in with the same deal. No annual fee the first year plus the same points to get $500 gift card after $1,000 spend. In both cases, I got the cards within a few days, quickly spent the minimum and got $1,000 in gift cards for Nieman Marcus.

I plan to just cancel these cards after the first year.
