You are right - it is a shame there is no AA Admirals lounge at the D gates as AA fly a lot of flights from there.
The lounge you can use for BA flights is in Term 3 and is a shared lounge.

Actually, access is free airside between D gates and the new T3. So when asked to pay at the D gates, we both got on the train to T3, where the dragon had almost let us in, before making one final call 'just to make sure'... And surely as I write here, that was the dreaded 'fateful call' to ensure that we couldn't come in without paying...
