It doesn't sound like the CH lounge is any great shakes, so I'm probably not going to stay there in the future (especially if the lounge is closed). My first few trips to London I stayed at CH because it was near to conferences I attended, plus had the view. But I've been to London enough I've seen the view, and CH charges a lot for it.

If you want a nice lounge in London, my top picks would be Grosvenor House (stylish and free Laphroaig), West India Quay (great choice, nice views) or St Pancras (very stylish, nice food, great service)


Grosvenor Square and CH are windowless and depressing, Marble Arch, Regents Park and Maida Vale are OK, but nothing special. I must confess I've never stayed at Park Lane so cannot comment.
