Upgrades after purchasing on the AM website are often rare. The reason is that AM sells upgrades relatively via www.Optiontown.com

I have purchased LAX-MEX upgrades for $113/OW, which for me meant that AM+purchase upgrade was still cheaper than DL's fare.
