My wife & I going to visit our son who is getting his masters in journalism from Columbia University 11/17 - 11/23. He is there for one semester, lives in BKK, and his wife will be meeting us there too. I am looking at two rooms at either On the Avenue or Hotel Bellaclaire or Aloft. Any thoughts on these or better recommendations? How much do you tip doormen, bellhops, taxi cab drivers? Restaurant's 20% for good service?
