I have had a small wheeled bag, a tote bag (containing pillow, book, blanket, ipad, etc.) and a very small handbag worn across my body and had them ask me to put my small bag inside the other. This while boarding into first class. So I would disperse the items somehow so you aren't carrying another bag.
