Sounds rubbish to me.

I have no idea what a "fully flexible redemption" would be: all redemptions are the same in that they can be changed or cancelled. Whether or not that costs anything depends on whether you are gold or not, but that is a different matter.

Unless quite a few things have changed, sounds like an agent who is confusing redemptions with revenue tickets.
