If you actually need to travel between New York and Berlin on these dates, it's not a mileage run.

United's routing rules are reasonably generous on TATL allowing you to connect generally anywhere on the US east coast to any European gateway, nonetheless, you can only go so far out of your way. If you really need UA miles, fly on some cheap domestic roundtrips?
