Is This The Way Pricing Works?
I travel to India regularly UA 82 EWR to DEL direct, 83 on the return. I just priced round trip from EWR = $7,239 in Bus/1st, several months in advance. I priced ORD-EWR-DEL in Bus/1st (same dates) and it comes in at $5,659, because there is a Z fare bucket from ORD and not EWR. So, UA flies me on two additional flights and charges me $1,580 less?
Question 1) Is this really the way pricing works? (Answer to my own question...of course you idiot!)
Question 2) Is there a way to skin the game, buy the ORD-EWR-DEL ticket and hop on in EWR, and hop off in EWR on the return? I don't think so, but I'm hoping!
Thanks in advance for any wisdom.
