Upgrades can be quite easy to get at the holiday time, as long as you're not flying on peak days. Front cabins are pretty empty since business travelers are not flying. Back cabins are full and often even Ps will get opups on domestic flights during the peak pre-/post-Christmas/New Years days. That said, what days are you planning to fly?
