This is our opinion only and the relevancy of it goes no further than us but I will tell you that we found Sonoma to be much more of a fit for us than Napa.

To be perfectly honest we found Napa to be quite pretentious. We enjoy wine and we enjoy wine tasting but we know absolutely nothing about wine. We felt much more at home given that in Sonoma than Napa. It is basically the same way that we feel about Avon/Vail versus Breckenridge. Breck is our style, Vail not so much.
+1 to everything in this post. Can't comment on the Napa property, but we very much enjoyed the Lodge at Sonoma. Everyone in Sonoma was so nice. At first, it was honestly kind of weird - no one is ever that nice to me without trying to sell me something - but the people in Sonoma were great. Not that everyone in Napa was a bunch of a-holes or anything, but it didn't have the same vibe.
