Hi all -- just hoping to get your quick thoughts on an itinerary flying later today.
Spouse (designated 1K with my 1K MM benefit) is flying on award ticket. She possesses a Chase United card of some kind, that is eligible for the new Chase-benefit upgrade I believe.
Now, I paid for the ticket with my miles, but with my Amex. And on the "My itineraries" confirmation screen it says "Complimentary Premier Upgrade Requested"
But now she does not appear on the upgrade list although checked in.
Reservations insists that the Chase card must have been used to pay for the ticket, but I don't believe that from what was discussed here a while back.
Am I missing something, or are they wrong?
Thanks!
The agents are right in the sense that technically you are not entitled to be on the upgrade list, given that you are supposed to pay for the ticket with the Chase card to receive the benefit.
You are remembering correctly, however, because the experience so far seems to be that the benefit applies to your account, regardless of the card you use to pay for the ticket (an unpublished benefit).
So the problem could be one of two things:
1) They "fixed' the unpublished benefit and made it so that you actually do have to pay for the ticket with the Chase card
or
2) The upgrade process is broken.
I'd place my money on 2). Many others have reported having to ask the checkin agent to manually add themselves to the upgrade list on award flights when they have the Chase card, even when paying for the ticket with said Chase card.
