Explorer, Club, President, and Award (Not that President is separate from club and that "Continental Presidential Plus is now MileagePlus Presidential Plus"

http://www.united.com/web/en-US/cont...s/default.aspx is a live United page that still has the old Continental cards (it has a link to chase.com/united which redirects to the above chase link which includes a new United Presidents Plus)

Given that Chase has new websites with text like "Continental Presidential Plus is now MileagePlus Presidential Plus" are you certain that Chase has canceled the Presidential Card and converted to Club card?
If you are paying for annual membership for UA club lounge access, it's natural to sign up for the UA club credit card - you still get $95 off for 1st year and they will also prorate the club membership fee paid and refund back to you. During May/June time frame there was a very public promotion for 1st year fee wavier of the new UA club credit card; unfortunately it's gone now (and the booklets they currently display at the lounge is the same offer as published online).

Chase didn't cancel existing accounts for people who hold the Presidential Plus Card - they simply do not offer new accounts any more. Existing Pres Plus card holders can choose to convert to the UA Club Card or stay with the old Pres Plus program (they sent updated plastic card to be consistent with the new name). Keep in mind that Flexible EQMs (PQMs) earned from Pres Plus card cannot be used to account for 1K status (it's capped at Premier Platinum), so in your specific case it might not have mattered. There are many discussions about Pres Plus card EQM changes in the UA forum that you can reference further (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...d-changes.html).

While you are correct about the chase link above showing outdated cards, only the cards still being offered for new accounts have an "apply now" button (while others don't).
