I would definitely ask to be switched to another room, even if it was not a premium room. I would personally prefer a true non-smoking room then a "cleaned" room. If they were unable to accomodate my request, I would express my displeasure to the front desk and the manager on duty. I would expect some type of compensation and or efforts to accomdate my request, especially if I was staying more then one night.
no little machine or febreze is going to cut it for me. The sheets smell like smoke, I smell after sleeping there for a night. I have stopped staying in hotels that don't honor non smoking rooms
