A while back, someone mentioned that they walked through the WTMD (metal detector) with their hands up in the same position that you have when you are in the body scanner (NOS). The TSO told the guy passenger that it wasn't necessary. I think the TSO
realized that the guy was trying to make a point. That got me thinking. For those of you that have read "The Hunger Games", when Katniss volunteers as a tribute in place of her sister, the town people all salute her silently. That hand signal kind of became a sign of "protest" later on.
So, if a TSO starts yelling at you or whatever, you should just stop, freeze and hold your hands above your head the same way that you have to in the NOS. Bonus points if you make a dumb face while doing it. :P Double points if you move your feet apart. Assume this position when they bark at you and ask if you want to fly after you dare ask for a pat down. I wonder how they will react if you hold your hands above your head when you answer what your name is and where you are going.
Giving a TSO the middle finger could be taken as "interfering with the screening process" but holding your arms in the NOS position would be less confrontational, in my opinion. If they try to arrest you, all you have to say is, "I was so flustered that I just threw my arms up in the air!!"
Since the opt-out day thing didn't work that well, maybe if a few people started doing this, it might catch on and make a point? Maybe a few sheep might stop and think? I don't know if the "opt-out day" people have given up on their cause or are planning a new event? All I know is that the scanners are here to stay.
Maybe a little spark could set a fire and start a revolution?
