A distracted, exhausted or heavily-encumbered transporter of a baby is a big part of the child harm picture. And most of that happens on the ground.
How is a child "harmed" by being taken out of a car seat??

Flying with a car seat is not a problem if you're organized. I did transatlantics, with connections, alone with three children. I wasn't "heavily-encumbered" because I only brought on board what I, and my three children needed for the flight. Everything else was checked.

There's no "danger" in bringing a car seat to the airport.
